How to remote into the student's Chromebook to provide technical support

NOTE: This only works if you have your own laptop that is running the latest version of the Chrome browser because Job Corps does not allow this extension to be installed on the desktop computer. If you do not know how to install the Google Remote Desktop extension just click on the App button that has many different colors on the top left corner of your Chrome browser. Once you are there, locate Web Store and click on it. Now search for the Chrome Remote Desktop extension and install it and follow the steps below to remote into your student Chromebook and provide support. If you need more help with downloading and install the Chrome Remote Desktop extension follow this guide.

1. Click on the extension icon located on the top right corner of your Chrome browser.

2. Click on Chrome Remote Desktop.

3. Switch your email over to your Job Corps email like I have below.

3. Ask the student to follow this guide until they have obtain an access code. Tell the student to give you the access code and on your computer navigate to the bottom (on the Chrome Remote Desktop page) where it says Connect to another computer, and type in the code that you got from the student under where it says Access Code. Now click CONNECT and tell the student to click on the Share button on their Chromebook. Wait a couple minutes and you should be able to take control of their Chromebook.

This is the best way to provide student with support if they happened to struggle with technology. You can even use this to find out if the student is lying to you about not being able to do something on their computer. Once you take control of their Chromebook it is not possible for them to say they cannot do it unless it is a real technical issue.
